5 years of Kossa Geshe box set
5 Years of Kossa Geshe
Kossa Geshe was one of the first lots that we targeted for year-over-year purchasing from our partners at Crop to Cup. Our 5th year of purchasing comes with this most recent lot. We are proud of the amazing work taking place at the community level, and prouder still that our customers enjoy this coffee as we do, year after year. Your purchase of these coffees have tangible impacts: over the last 5 years re-investment in the community at Kossa Geshe has produced worker housing, running-water bathroom facilities, a schoolhouse, numerous road improvements, organic certification, concrete drying patios, numerous industry awards including Good Food Awards, and more.
One surprise for 2020-21 is this brilliant Moata special prep. This is a lot separation done to pick the most consistently ripe cherries and process them separately from the main Kossa Geshe lots. The result is an unprecedented clean cup for a naturally processed coffee. We already buy Kossa Geshe for it's clean character, but this lot separation may fool you into thinking this is a washed. it's that clean and vibrant.
To celebrate this milestone, we are offering both the Kossa Geshe Abukado and Moata special prep as a box set. Explore the familiar berries and chocolate notes from the Abukado, and contrast with the decidedly punchier and vibrant Moata special prep.
Coffee Flavor and Roast Profile
Abukado: Strawberry, blueberry, mixed berry jam, caramel, hot chocolate, smooth, creamy, very sweet, syrupy, warm finish. We've roasted this natural process coffee to exemplify the syrupy sweetness of the stone fruit flavors, offer a nice caramel body, and give a smooth, lingering finish. It's a very clean natural, roasted to a medium profile.
Moata: Pineapple, nectarine, strawberry, malic, red apple, very sweet, clean natural, no funk, juicy, complex, sparkling. In contrast to our regular Kossa Geshe offering, this special prep lot is roasted lighter to emphasize the sparkling acidity and complexity of flavors not usually found in a natural processed Ethiopian coffee.
