Yemen Hejrat Al Ain
Coffee overview
Limited release 125g only - Our second of three Yemen lots this year, this single-village lot represents a staple Yemenia flavor profile alongside deliberate natural processing. Another decadently sweet, dried-fruit-laden offering that starts with sugary dates before jumping into a surprisingly tart juiciness, and finishing with emblematic black tea with some slight earthiness. A fun counterpart to last month's Kent variety.
Coffee flavor profile
Date, red currant, black tea
Acidity: winey, complex
Sweetness: syrupy, dried fruits
Balance: good, rich
Finish: very long, tea-like, slight earth
Brewing evaluation
Rest: 25+ days recommended
Filter eval day 1: Gabi Standard - Massive cup, loaded with dried fruits up front leading into winey, tart fruits and dried counterparts. Fig, date, light-bodied red wine, some cacao, leading into a very long, black tea, dry finish, tons of linger, with some earth. Great representation of the terroir and variety.
